Week #6 – Family Heirlooms

For which family heirloom are you most thankful? How did you acquire this treasure and what does it mean to you and your family?

This challenge runs from Sunday, February 5, 2012 through Saturday, February 11, 2012.

While I’ve inherited many items from various branches of my family tree, I’m most thankful for the pictures. These photographs help me put faces with names. Also, I can digitize them easily by scanning them. This allows me to share pictures with my cousins!

  1. Hi Jorie

It’s nice to know I’m not the only one using WordPress.com for their family tree. I’m in the UK and have just completed our Collins family tree. Although I still have to edit my father’s Second World War book before putting it on the website.

I also happen to be a Pentecostal Christian, so that also makes me your brother in Christ.

The items I prize are the 1916 photo of my grand parents wedding on my mother’s side of the family. With the help of my uncle I hope to be able to name most of our ancestors in the photograph. The other item I value is my father’s war book written in 1946, although it was jointly inherited by my two brothers and myself. I was able to type it out so we each had a copy and I have the original manual. Although they not be of any monetary value, they both have a value in their own right and now will be available to our whole family.

    Best regards
    Tony Collins
